Treat yourself to five days of drawing and painting with David Price and Anne Noble-Partridge in the lovely, light first floor gallery at Candid Arts. The class is ideal for all levels of ability with demonstrations a practical advice for the complete beginner and individual tuition for those with more experience. Students are given the freedom to progress at their own pace according to ability. The course is also ideal for students 16+ hoping to build their portfolio for A Level or college.

Participants will be guided through the process of painting from initial drawing and sketching techniques through to the completion of an accomplished painting. You will be encouraged to create drawings and sketches to improve drawing technique and establish composition, then progress into sketching in acrylic and oils in order to build up confidence and become familiar with handling paint. Basic colour theory, mixing techniques and styles of paint application will be provided. Guidance and advice will be given on layering, glazes and additional paint mediums.You will then begin your painting and will be free to spend time on one in-depth painting or two or three more experimental pieces.

 The aim of the Life Drawing & Painting Summer School is for each participant to have completed competent drawings and an accomplished painting by the end of the week.

 All basic materials are included in the course fee- including acrylic and oil paints, brushes, palettes, sketching equipment and painting paper. If you specifically want to paint on canvas its fine to provide your own.

 *Completion of the drawing course and Painting Saturdays is not a necessary requirement to take part in the Summer School.

For two weeks during August we run two Life drawing and Painting Summer Schools here at the Candid Galleries. The classes are informal and informative, with emphasis on individual tuition so you can really take things at your own pace and to your own level. The Summer Schools always cater for a range of abilities, the aim being for each participant to produce an accomplished painting and a series of drawings using different mediums and techniques by the end of the week. The schools take place in the beautiful first floor gallery, which is a loft style Victorian warehouse, flooded with lots of natural light.
