My work is mainly concerned with the self in society, with what we are and how we relate to others. I see it as something that is a more or less conscious, and more or less critical, manifestation of society that embodies the psychology of the artist
art is a form of cultural artefact just as are our machines, underwear and wars.
One series of work that I have been engaged with takes the domestic and manipulates it to reflect upon contemporary issues Noddy and Mickey as old and more human than the originals, embodying the experience of ageing, Afghan figures being "protected" by a British soldier, Snoopy, as the Red Baron, pierced by machine gun fire. Other work looks at making things from the detritus of society, as if the artist were the child wanting something but having to make do with constructing it himself.
humour, pathos and irony are always there.
all are about us.
Other work investigates sculptural issues such as the depiction of the human figure and formal work.
