My painting seeks to acknowledge the monumentality of landscape, and to provide a means through which it is possible to express an archetypal response. The juxtaposition of colours, the physicality of mark-making and the working of the paint surface are crucial elements. I work in acrylics over a manipulated gesso ground to produce highly textured, vibrantly coloured and dramatic abstracts.
