Kate's art practice combines textiles with traditional embroidery techniques and representative narrative painting. She uses naturalistic emblems and allegorical detail to portray powerful figures in the Western world in various uncomfortable situations. Her work has a force behind it, which belies its soft appearance and recognisable form. This is alternative craft. It is no soft option, but is thought provoking, witty and enjoyable.
