Photographs by nature betoken both an absence and a presence: a moment lost to the past is preserved and resurrected by our resuscitating gaze. To collect evidence we require more than memory. We demand imagery, yet a void surrounds the moments and so invites sentimentality to the fragments of life; illustrating our nostalgia for a coherent unity, a wholeness.
