Candid Projection Room: Screening / Networking
evening featuring artists' film and video
Candid Projection Room is a regular film and video
night for emerging artists and recent graduates to
present and discuss their work. CPR provides
artists with an easily accessible facility for
presentation of work and exchange of ideas,
something that is sorely missed in the lives of
recently graduated artists. This is an
inter-disciplinary event that attracts filmmakers,
animators and video artists alike to come and show
their single-screen media works and make contact
with other artists working with the moving image.
The work shown is selected from an ongoing open
call for submissions for single screen media works. With no submission fee, artists
are encouraged to submit as much work, as often as
they like, so as to encourage experimenting with
new ideas. The accessible nature of CPR is
reinforced by the frequency of the event - a
weekly screening allows for a wide selection
of the submitting artists' work to be shown.
Some of the works featured to date have included
the Portobello film festival Best Newcomer Simon
Green's film Aqua Gym, RCA graduate Ebba
Erikkson's animation The Wound, Jun Keung
Cheung's short super 8 film Bus Strike and
Third Angel's video An Acquired Taste.
